Autumn colours

Photo of the day

Today is a typical grey and rainy October day. But we had some nice sunny days last week which revealed the first warm autumn colours.

Early mornings were a playful game between the sun and the mist.
But the sun eventually came out and left some heat on our skins.

Water temperature is still high which resulted in an high amount of algae in the Upper Sure Lake.

“A few days ago I walked along the edge of the lake and was treated to the crunch and rustle of leaves with each step I made. The acoustics of this season are different and all sounds, no matter how hushed, are as crisp as autumn air.”

Trees, lights and sculptures

Photo of the day

On Friday evening I wandered through the streets of Luxembourg -City in search of the lightening trees and sculptures hidden all over the place. All in all it had an atmosphere of Christmas.

Behind the Cathedral a majestic tree was covered in waves of rainbow colours.

In front of the Cathedral it was summer time as the butterflies were out!

It was a great experience to walk though the city with all these lights…

The festival “Arbres & Lumières” takes place every year in Geneva and for the very first time in Luxembourg this year. Those of you in and around Luxembourg should take the opportunity to wander through the streets until October 30. As I said it’s Christmas in October!

The golden rock, Burma

We should have been taking this photo at dusk, a nice sunset shot!
But let me starting at the beginning. We arrived at the guesthouse at around 3 pm.  From there no way to go up to the Golden Rock by car. We went to tje “bus” stop and waited for the truck to fill up with passengers as it only leaves when completely full. The following 2 hours we got to know everybody on the truck…
We finally arrived on top at 7.30 pm. Hundreds of people walked around, prayed, lightened candles . The atmosphere was wonderful, peaceful…
This Golden rock is a huge stone on the edge of a mountain. A single hair from Buddha keeps the rock in place. Equilibrum!

At 9.30 pm after a meal in one of the eateries we started our walk back to town . As no more trucks run at night we walked back to the village. 16 km under a full moon in the middle of nowhere in Burma !
Wee finally arrived at the guesthouse at 2 am . Tired indeed but happy about the misssed sunset!
