Coupe du Monde de Photographie sous- marine

Venez découvrir les photos de l’équipe luxembourgeoise qui a participé à
la Coupe du Monde de Photo Sous-Marine. Denis Palbiani et moi-même avions pris part à ce concours qui s’effectue tous les deux ans.
Nous pourrions discuter autour d’un verre et vous allez découvrir le déroulement de cette compétition,en compagnie de tous les sponsors.

In the sunniest part of the lake the white algae carpet seems to be even thicker. It makes you think of some melted material which had glided over the trees …ages ago

In some parts, green dots lighten up the monotone whitish colour.

Wherever you raise your head you see the trees surrounding the lake bathing in bright sunlight.

We kept to the fairy tale idea and decided to spent the afternoon in Neuschwanstein castle which is only one hour drive away. We ended up in a real tourist industry village. actually there are up to 6000 visitors daily who want to visit king Ludwig II’s retreat.

Disney’s Sleeping beauty must be awake for a long time since…

All I can tell you is that it is worth all this!

When you enter the 8C water you quickly come to see tree trunks which have fallen into the lake. Everything is covered in a whitish  thick algae carpet. Touching is strickly forbidden. Watch your buoyancy!!!

The spot is known for its incredible visibility, which we could witness on our first dive in 10 C waters

But the second dive was all different. Due to heavy rain the water was mixed up like in a fairy tale. The first meter below the surface was still clear and below was …the fog!

Let’s see what tomorrow brings. We still have the Samaranger lake and the Blindsee to dive…and we have to taste all this yummie Austrian desserts

The memory cards are handed over by the organisation team on the boat. They also check all handling of your cameras.

…what’s really cool on the dive site Myserique is this huge brain coral called Brian’s brain. It is called so for more than 20 years now. Usually these corals collapse under their weight but this one has resisted so far.
it is more than 7 m high.

Pipeline is a very cool place. It was a former desalination factory which is now one of the stunning ” wrecks” of Nuweiba. Large tubes go into the water. They are all overgrown with soft corals and lots of fish can be found here.
